I've never heard of this movie (not to be confused with this); I love this poster. What is that genteel lady doing to that strapping naked buck, whose head is slightly askance, either in contemplation, embarrassment, or indifference? She looks intent, ravenous; he looks away. I don't believe this 1998 film, which from this titillating image looks like Mandingo by way of Strindberg, has been properly released in the U.S., where I'm sure its title wouldn't have been a strict translation from L'homme est une femme comme les autres to, I believe, Man Is a Woman Like Any Other but rather something like Odile and Billy, or Not-Fat Girl. A quick scan over at imdb reveals not only that, according to user TedEBear, it's "not exactly a mess," but that it's about a gay Jewish man forced to marry for money. Apparently it's not the belle epoque ball-cupper I thought it was but just another kooky kulture klash in the Wedding Banquet mold. Ah well, the poster almost had me on www.amazon.fr.
