Hey guys! Hey kids! Hey grandpa! It's HAWMPS!!!! What, you never heard of HAWMPS!? What hawmping rock have you been living under? Why, it's very possibly the funniest motion picture in a decade, and certainly the funniest one made about camels in the cavalry. Take it from Slim Pickens himself: "Yeeeee-haw. It'll rump your hump!" Denver Pyle also appears, prompting the nagging question, If Stepin Fetchit and Chill Wills were still healthy and regularly acting in 1976, would they also have been headliners? HAWMPS!, which won coveted first place in a battle with ffolkes (also known as North Sea Hijack, also known as Fffffffffffffolkes!) for Best Title of the 1970s, may not be ripe for rediscovery, but director Joe Camp (for real) officially has two Reverse Shot posters of the week to his credit, and he deserves a shout-out for that at the very least. Keep em comin', Camp: I know you're not dead yet.

I agree...Borgnine is a national treasure and we must not impune his good name. Without him, we'd have no popular face for the Dutch Oven or the Better Living through Rabid Masturbatuion movements.

That is a cheap shot at Ernest Borgnine. And it is irrelevant that I was possibly named after him.

Wow! That Joe Camp has worked with some real animals - dogs (the Benji series), camels (HAWMPS!), and pigs (Ernie Borgnine in The Double McGuffin)!

Very possibly the funniest blog post of the decade.

Chill Wills was active in film and television until his death in 1978. He must not have lived the script.
