"From the Reelblack Vaults," as the title card says... watch this 1989 thirteen-minute documentary short, titled "Who Is Chris Rock?," directed by then-NYU student Michael Dennis (you might know him instead as the man behind Philly-based Reelblack), featuring some of the earliest off and on-stage footage of a much younger Chris Rock, honing his craft, to the chagrin of his mother.

Who knew?

Make sure you stay for the outtakes after the closing credits.

That was fun. Appreciated seeing his mother and their interaction, and their obvious affection for each other. (And that after-the-credits story they both told was priceless!)
