Victim

Roughly 3 months after its world premiere at the Raindance Film Festival last October in London, British action/drama Victim, which stars Ashley Chin, Ashley Madekwe, Jason Maza, Adam Deacon, David Harewood and others, was acquired for UK distribution and international sales by Kaleidoscope Entertainment, for a spring 2012 release.

First written about on S&A back in September 2011, the film's synopsis reads:

When "country-girl" Tia comes to stay with her cousin in the city, little does she realizes that her naivety will disturb the delicate balance of cousin Davina and her group of friends. Living the good life on a career of crime, Davina's friend Tyson struggles to be a parent to his teenage sister Nyla. Getting to know Tia allows Tyson to see a way out of his violent life. But Tia's blossoming romance is a consequence that Davina had not envisaged, and Davina begins to plot a terrible revenge.

Alex Pillai is the director (his feature film debut), from a script co-writing by one of the film's stars, Ashley Chin.

Pure Film Productions is the company behind it.

It now has an official release date in the UK of June 8.

No word on whether the film will travel at this point; I think we can safely put it into the same group as the other so-called *urban* youth crime/dramas produced in the UK that we've written about on S&A lately, like SKETTop Boy, and many others in the past, with Pure Film and Revolver Entertainment (its Gunslinger arm) behind many of them it appears.

An official poster (above) for Victim has surfaced; the official trailer is embedded below if you missed it:
