Originally thought to be heading straight to DVD land, cop action drama titled Freelancers, will be getting a theatrical release after all - on August 10th.
And along with that news comes a brand-new trailer and poster, both embedded below.
Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Robert De Niro and Forest Whitaker star in Freelancers, in which Fiddy plays the son of a slain NYPD officer who, with his two best friends, joins the Police Academy. After graduating, he's taken under the wing of his father's former partner, Captain Joe Sarcone (De Niro), and he becomes part of Sarcone's rogue task force.
Official synopsis reads:
The son of a slain NYPD officer joins the force, where he falls in with his father's former partner and a team of rogue cops. His new boss, Sarcone, will see if he has what it takes to be rogue through many trials and tribulations of loyalty, trust and respect. When the truth about his father's death is revealed, revenge takes over him, and he won't stop until justice has been truly served.
The film, which is co-produced by Jackson under the 10-picture, $200 million agreement that Jackson and his Cheetah Vision production company have with George Furla's Hedge Fund Film Partners, was directed by Jessy Terrero (Soul Plane).
Despite criticism of the strength of his acting and films, Fiddy keeps attracting top-shelf talent, and also continues to get hired by others to appear in their films. Next up on the big screen we'll see him with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Tomb, which is out next year.

I don't know what type of laced kool aid 50 is serving to studios and top notch actors in order to keep booking these films. Is the audience even checking for 50?

At least the trailer shows a decent movie, it doesn't look like " a straight to video" feature, but the thing is, for how long that there is involvement from 50 Cent, i kind of automatically create an idea that is going to s*ck, cuz the dude just can't act, and is forcing him self into it, thanks to his wealth, and this time it looks like it got with him to the drowning pool De Niro (which has become "a show me the money" actor, and Whitaker who is also seeking money and not quality. SO I HOPE THIS WILL FLOP on AUGUST...
