  The movie was really good! Even though im 15 i know a little old to be watching the show, it still has my vote as one of the best disney movies. The songs were very unique. God job guys!

  Great job Eric. We need more black-centric teen/tween movies out there. I loved the way you wrote the hip-hop so it was still authentic but didn't come off as corny because of course the raps had to be written for disney! I found it very authentic and heartwarming. So glad your project worked out and I hope there's more to come from you!

  CC...In a nutshell. I wrote the treatment for LIS 10 years ago. Almost sold it to a studio, but deal fell thru. So I wrote the screenplay. Shopped it around for years. Then a producer friend brought it in to Disney Channel. They were interested. So I rewrote it for tweens. They bought it. I did more rewrites. We got closer. Then they hired Don to do revisions. And we got it over the finish line. I never worked with Don or had any involvement with the director or casting. That's often how it works with the studio after you sell your material. Hope the info helps.

  Hello Eric, could you share the responsibilities of the "creator". How long are you involved with the project and the casting (i.e, director, actors, writers)? Also, what changed over the years of developement? What's the history of your relationship with Eric Daniel, and Don D. Scott ?

  This movie was really good it felt like down home southern life and it felt more real than most movies though it was a little predictable, but still one of the best movies Disney has produced in a very long time. I feel like all the characters parts fitted perfectly although in previews one would get the idea that Cyrus and Chris are brothers not best friends. But nevertheless this was a very good movie with an amazing sound track.

  Glad he's moved onto to something better after all that Chris Rock coonin' on the CW. Seriously, how many times can one guy bug his eyes out and have his mouth open wide in one episode? Pfft, an embarrassment. And don't get me started on Tichina Arnold's sassy loudmouth Sapphire "big, bad momma" character.....yuck!

  "Everybody Hates Chris" was actually the best and most warm, insightful black sitcom since "The Cosby Show". Everything from the period music, the clever writing, the acting, social commentary, and everything else was terrific about it. Shame it didn't go on for at least one more season, but it ended before it got weak.

  Oh yeah, forgot about Grant; silly me. I actually thought "Let It Shine" was a fine film, but it's full of that distinct Christian hypocrisy that I can't stand. Talking down on rap music even though there's Christian rap? Come on now. Oh, and don't get me started on rap music being as close as we get to being black, so I have to call out anyone or anything that hates on the culture. Most rap haters can't appreciate intelligent lyrics, so they hate on something they can't understand. If you give them a song like "On Earth As It Is", they probably wouldn't be able to interpret the meaning of even half of the lines.

  Okay, it's been nice "meeting you", but now it's time for the old man to get his beauty sleep. Maybe tomorrow we can talk about each individual performance. Btw, I also loved the music and the messages. One message I heard was reminicent of what The Wizard (ask your parents about him ;-)) said to tudor turtle. His famous line was "Be just vhat you is, not vhat you is not. Folks vhat do zis are ze happiest lot".

  Alright, you got me. What I did like about the film were the performances, the music, and the overall message. It was enjoyable and definitely one of the better Disney movies I've seen to date. I was a big fan of Tyler in "Everybody Hates Chris", so I'm always looking forward to anything else he does.

  Look out Nicki, we're heading for a fork in the road :-). I thought the film covered the "Christian" angle with a light touch. In fact, remember Courtney Vance (Cyrus's father) went back and apologized to Coco Jones? He admitted he was wrong. Also, Cyrus's mother made it a point to emphasize that their son's lyrics were not of a "negative" quality. But I will agree that some who have problems with "rap" (and we're not talking "Christian folks"). probably have not listened to different genres of the art form. But now tell me what you liked about the movie?

  Totally delightful! Tyler James Williams is a seasoned actor. There was no wrinkles in his performance. The storyline was predictable but I found myself rooting for the "good guy" as if I was 12 years old (all over again). Coco Jones did a nice job and has a great voice. Courtney B. Vance as Cyrus's preacher father didn't disappoint. In fact, I cheered at a couple of his scenes. The whole production was top notch. Five out of five stars!

But check this, Carey is not the name I go by. I actually have a "black" name. *LOL*. Yep, I have never heard a white person use "my" name. Anyway, what's your objections to "Let It Shine"?
