"They'll spend a $120 million on a film or a whole bunch of money making a film and then a whole bunch of money promoting it a year before it actually comes out, and the money they get back in theaters is just the money they spent... And then it goes to dvd and everything is profit there. Some of the movies I've done recently, I was financing and I've already seen a 60 percent return on what I've [been] involved with. They don't understand, they're looking at it and going, 'Well, it went straight-to-dvd,' and they don't realize I'm gonna get another $800,000 off each one of these projects. You can sit there and say 'It went straight-to-dvd'... my ass... They'll try to figure a way to discredit whatever you do because I come from that. I have a lot, so I'm conditioned to the people who haven't been through that and can't get to the next level...

Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson said in an previous interview with a Tampa Bay radio station; I already posted this quote about 2 weeks ago, but I feel like I should post it everytime I write about any 50 Cent movies that will most likely be straight-to-DVD releases... just in case anyone's forgotten :)

Here's the trailer for the next one - another release from 50 Cent's 10-picture, $200 million agreement with George Furla's Hedge Fund Film Partners via his Cheetah Vision Films production company

And as was announced about a week ago, Lionsgate and Grindstone Entertainment Group renewed their film slate deal with Emmet/Furla and Cheetah Vision Films for an additional 10 films, expanding their overall relationship.

This one is titled Fire With Fire which sees Rosario Dawson playing the female lead opposite Bruce Willis and Josh Duhamel. 50 Cent has a supporting role in this, unlike past films under his Cheetah Vision banner in which he starred, or co-starred.

Also joining the cast are NFL Cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha (making his acting debut), Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, and Vincent D'Onofrio.

The story centers on a fireman (Duhamel) in the witness protection program who takes matters into his own hands when he's threatened by the man against whom he's set to testify.

Fire With Fire is scheduled for a September release.

People can laugh at 50 all they want but well respected actors like Bruce Willis, Josh Duhamel, and Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio are in his movies! I have to believe these talented actors must see something that 50 Cent is doing right for agreeing to be in his films! These B list actors can certainly obtain mainstream film roles but they chose to work with 50 Cent. He's got to be doing something right to get well established actors to appear in his movies.

Yes, he's paying them. They have bills to pay too, after all. In the old days, it used to be stars on the wane (and/or B-listers) would do TV ads in foreign countries... now they do 50c straight to DVD films.

I can't stand 50 Cent, but this film doesn't look terrible; looks like a disposable thriller with a budget. Maybe something that TBS, USA, A&E, etc would play during a Sunday movie marathon. From the trailer alone, I have to congratulate him on finally achieving mediocrity.

I like "Fiddy," but on the rest we're agreed -- couldn't have said it better.

As much as I hate to admit I respect his hustle...he's finished a a large number of films in a short amount of time while continuing to attract stars to his films..grumble...grumble...grumble

Okay, that trailer was horrible! But, perhaps it's not the final one. The one downside about people who have money and do low budget indie films is that even though they get names talent for the project the casting is usually way off and they use inexperienced directors who don't know how to work with talent, which seems to be case in point with this project. Sad.

@Darkan Agreed. See half of Nicholas Cage's output the last 5 years. If folks have been wondering what's been up with some of his choices it's them foreign pre-sales...he's joined the likes of Uwe Boll...

  • Darkan | June 18, 2012 2:02 PM

@Charles, agreed. Doesn't mean the film isn't gonna be a stinker though. LOL.

"...is that even though they get names talent for the project the casting is usually way off..." True, but it's the sure fire way to pre-sale territories overseas or get major international distributors to buy up large chunks of the rights. With a Bruce Willis they can sell to fewer distributors, without they may have to go into each individual country and territory to make the deals.

So what does a Black Actor have to do in order to get a job ? !!!

  • Adam Scott Thompson | June 19, 2012 5:25 PM

Rap or play sports first? LOL I'm being facetious, though. It's a valid question.

  • Donnie Leapheart | June 18, 2012 1:17 PMReply

Every filmmaker that comes to this site would kill to have a $20 million film deal with Bruce Willis, Vincent D'Onofrio and Rosario Dawson in the cast. Even if the film went straight to DVD.

  • ska-triumph | June 18, 2012 1:13 PMReply

grumble, grumble... respecting his game... grumble, grumble.

  • troy | June 18, 2012 1:07 PMReply

Nnamdi made his acting debut on the tv show Leverage. He is supposed to be one of the intellectuals in the NFL so why would he want to act?
