One of the hardest working men in Showbiz, Samuel L. Jackson, has joined the cast of MGM's upcoming reboot of Robocop, with Brazilian helmer Jose Padilha (probably best know for Elite Squad, and its sequel) directing the film.

Well, it's not Don Cheadle's Miles Davis project, or even a Miles Davis-centered film, but you should know that production is in full swing in Trollhättan, Sweden on a feature film titled Monica Z (full title Monica – A Lingonberry in a Cocktail) based on the life of the famous Swedish jazz vocalist and actress, Monica Zetterlund, whose career ran from the late 1950s until 2005, when she passed.

A question that filmmakers are sometimes told to ask themselves before deciding to embark on any project is whether it's a film that just has to be made - maybe because it's filling some need that's been relatively ignored. Rob Reiner's The Magic Of Belle Isle is as conventional and predictable a narrative as you can get in 2012, which left me wondering why it was made in the first place.
