Inspired by my rewatching Wendell B Harris Jr's Chameleon Street earlier (still from a scene above)... I thought about other films that centered around black men (or women) who, using primarily their intellect and wit, con their way into what we could deem white Americana, and do so successfully... mostly anyway; near perfect cons of the white-collar variety.

Filmmaker Dana Verde has left her home in Brooklyn, NY to shop her very first feature in L.A., where she has been for the past few months. The Brooklyn-set rom-com, to be titled Jump-off, follows a commitment phobic man coming to terms with his issues of emotional unavailability, which stem from witnessing his mother’s unstable relationships and his womanizing father.

Investigators are current trying to determine what was the cause of a four alarm fire that struck Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta late Tuesday night. The fire bought over 100 firefighters who responded to battle the blaze which took about an hour to put out.

We've covered some very thought-provoking short films, such as Remigration by Barry Jenkins and White by Sayeeda Clarke, from the popular Futurestates series and today we get to add another one to the list.  Crossover, directed by Tina Mabry (Mississippi Damned), was just released and -- as expected -- does not disappoint.
