Rarely does war look so beautiful on film. I feel somewhat guilty saying that given the unspeakable acts of physical and mental torment the young protagonist in War Witch endures throughout its roughly 90-minute running time.

A new Broadway show we've previously covered, opened TONIGHT after about 2 weeks in previews. And thankfully, I'll get to see it tomorrow actually, Friday night, thanks to the assistance of Mr Wendell Pierce who is one of the show's producers. Looking forward to it! I haven't seen a show on Broadway probably since Fences in 2010.

The 2012 Tribeca Film Festival is officially underway, and I've managed to just 1 film screening thus far (the Congolese drama War Witch), along with a few non-film events. My review of that film should be posted tomorrow morning at the latest.

7 Days in Havana "will be premiering at Cannes this year in competion for the "Prize Un Certain Regard" section of the Festival's film line-up. 7 Days chronicles the life in Cuba in seven different stories per each day, told through visitors of the Caribbean city and helmed by seven different directors.

I’m surprised we haven’t talked much about this film/musical. We posted a teaser back in February of last year, and since then, it has screened at UrbanWorld Film Fest and a few other venues.
