Of the actresses receiving the most attention for The Help, I'd say that Octavia Spencer is maybe the one actress whose career has gotten the most significant jolt.

Just a reminder that this premieres TONIGHT, January 18th at 10PM EST. Given your reactions to my intitial post on it, I'd say many of you are excited about the series, so check it out tonight. I am wondering why it's airing so late though. Regardless, thanks to 21st century technology, I'm sure you'll find ways to watch it, whether tonight when it airs, or tomorrow, via your DVR, or on TV One's website HERE.

Well, good luck to her! This biopic of hers has been "in development" for sometime now, and we've documented every major progression, most notably the casting kerfuffle between her and Halle Berry (she said Halle was a shoe-in to play Aretha Franklin in the film; Halle said, I don't think so, 'cause I can't sing; then Aretha said, but Halle, you don't have to sing, 'cause you'll be lip-synching my shit; and then nothing).
