As you are well aware the UCLA Film Archive just completed its three month long film festival of movies made by the "L.A. Rebelllion" group of black filmmakers which explored the lasting impact and importance of these films. Several of those films that were screened were reviewed here by Brandon Wilson and Nijla Mumin.

We've had all kinds of smackdown debates and conversations here at S&A about films, directors, actors and actresses but one person that's virtually never come up in all those discussions is Denzel Washington and with good reason...he's the consummate actor.  You may or may not like a film he appears in but you can always count on him giving a riveting performance.

The film's website says that it'll make its TV debut on HBO during Black History Month next year (2012) on Valentine's Day.
