Premiering this month at the Atlanta Film Festival, the brazilian documentary Without A Net, helmed by Kelly J. Richardson follows a group of young men and women who, struggling to survive in the controlled drug slums of Rio de Janeiro, take their chances and prepare for the town's circus act.

It makes it NYC premiere at the New Directors/New Films Festival tomorrow afternoon at 4:15pm at Lincoln Center (purchase tickets HERE); I saw it when it make its debut at the Sundance Film Festival in January, and reviewed it soon after. Eariler this week in USA Today, Fox Business and some other media sources were reporting that analyst Derek Baine of the research and investment firm SNL Lagan that Discovery Communications was reeling from a $143 million loss due to the sluggish performance of the Oprah Winfrey Network and suggested that it was possible that DC could dump OWN entirely.

The feature length documentary Flex is Kings, helmed by Deidre Schoo and Michael Beach Nichols, is currently funding via Kickstarter with 20 days to go. Flex is Kings centers around the underground street dance culture called "Flexing," set in an impoverished and crime-ridden area in Brooklyn.
