An upcoming new music documentary from American Masters on Cab Calloway, titled Cab Calloway: Sketches, will premiere nationally on PBS, on Monday, February 27 at 10pm (as always, check local listings), in honor of Black History Month.

The 2012 Pan African Film Festival came to a close this evening; the last screening was the eagerly anticipated French TV film/miniseries Toussaint L'Ouverture, which was ultimately the festival's big winner.  L'Ouverture and Jimmy Jean-Louis were awarded top honors for Best Narrative Feature and Best Actor, respectively.

After its successful film festival curcuit run, the documentary Phunny Business, which chronicles the rise and fall of the legednary black Chicago comedy club All Jokes Aisde, will be seen nationwide when it makes its premiere on Showtime this Thursday Feb 23 at 8:30PM (7:30PM Central time).
