Here's yet another one of those inspirational-stage-plays-aimed-at-the-black-market heading straight for DVD release. This time it's Church Girl the popular and successful musical play which toured across the country last year. It's written and produced by Angela Barrow Dunlap who calls herself "The Leading Lady of Urban Theatre," which means it's only a matter of time before she starts making movies too.

Leila Djansi's "Ties That Bind" Tops Ghana Movie Awards Nominations w/ 21 Nods

Ghanaian director Leila Djansi's  Ties That Bind, a film we've written about a number of times, which stars Kimberly Elise, Nollywood star Omotola Jalade and Ghanaian actress Ama K Abebrese, has topped this year's Ghana Movie Awards nominations with a total of 21 nominations including Best Picture, Best Story and Best Editing.

So... my Sundance 2012 predictions list traveled quite a bit it seems, if the number of emails I received afterward alerting me to other potential *black films* that might get into the festival (a few even confirming with me that they were in, though I won't say which :))
