Roger Corman is considered "the king" of low budget films having created such cult classics as The Little Shop Of Horrors, Last Woman On Earth and Creature From The Haunted Sea among others.  He also launched a large number of well-known directors such as Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard and Jonathan Demme.  So how did first-time director Alex Stapleton get the "godfather" of indie cinema to co-sign on her documentary about him?  Simple...she just asked!

After winning several literary awards and garnering global acclaim for its clever originality, South African author Lauren Beukes' science-fiction novel, Zoo City, recently saw its film rights awarded to producer Helena Spring (Red Dust, Yesterday, The First Grader), a fellow South African.  Before fans of the Johannesburg-set novel fret at the idea of a film version missing the mark when it comes to capturing the essence of the original story, they should know that Beukes does not intend to let that happen.

Below is the trailer for the short fim Maffe Tiga (Peanut Butter Stew) written, directed and starring  Mohamed Dione with Marie Josephine Zoumanigui, both of whom are natives of Guinea, a fact that was the inspration for the film.

David Gyasi will make up the starring cast of 7 for a new BBC2 drama series titled White Heat, which is said to be an updated version of an older BBC drama serial, Our Friends In The North.
