Additional Sundance Film Festival Lineups Unveiled

This afternoon, the Sundance Film Festival unveiled the lineups for its Spotlight, Park City at Midnight, NEXT <=> and New Frontier programs. Films of note include Andrea Arnold's Wuthering Heights adaptation in the Spotlight section, as well as An Oversimplification of Her Beauty by Terence Nance, a filmmaker whose work we've covered in the past, in the New Frontier section.

Fans of HBO's The Wire can look forward to seeing the crime drama's co-stars Jamie Hector, JD Williams, and Hassan Johnson together again soon. The three actors are set to star in An American in Hollywood, a new feature film from V-Twinz Productions. And no, it isn't about a drug heist.

Despite the fact that it is usually credited exclusively as a Neil Gaiman-created project, BBC2's 1996 sci-fi mini-series Neverwhere was actually co-created with British funnyman Lenny Henry.  The 15th Anniversary Edition DVD of Neverwhere was released in November.

VH1 has announced that they're planning to get into the TV movie business with a series of bio-pics about popular pop and hip-hop groups and musicians. The first one off the block will be a TV movie about the music, career, private conflicts, and personal lives of the popular 1990's trio TLC.

In a recent post about Warrior I think it was, I made a remark about getting tired of seeing inspirational dramas about white fighters (whether boxers, wrestlers, MMA, etc); films that seem to have become fashionable again in Hollywood in the last 4 or 5 years - 2 of them have been Oscar contenders, one that's been buzzed about this year, and another was recently announced with Eminem starring and Antoine Fuqua directing.
