I recently got my hands on a DVD copy of the BBC's acclaimed 2010 legal drama, Accused. The six-part series features the stories of six separate characters who have, through various circumstances, found themselves entangled in the criminal justice system, sitting in a courtroom, awaiting their individual fates. Throughout each episode, viewers learn how they ended up there in the first place.

BET Moves Skye Townsend's Web Series "8 Days A Week" to Television!

It seems as that the enthusiastic response to BET's dramedy web series, 8 Days A Week, has gotten the show an upgrade. Eddie Murphy talked a little bit about his Academy Awards hosting gig early next year during a press conference for his upcoming comedy thriller Tower Heist. The actor says, "I'm looking forward to doing it and I promise I'll stay there all night, Oscars is a fun thing to do. I don't feel the pressure. I get to introduce people and stand up straight. Maybe I'll be in a couple silly sketches or something."

From writer/director Leila Djansi, whose other project Ties That Bind just released an official trailer which we just posted, comes another Ghanaian drama Sinking Sands. We profiled the film back in April when it was screening at Cannes. Sands was the winner of several awards at this year's African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) including best actress and screenplay.

I admit we get so caught up with big box office weekend numbers that sometimes we overlook other successes that fly under the radar. They may not make $55 million in a weekend like Paranormal Activity 3 , but still they're impressive in their own way.
