Intriguing docu-drama here, I profiled several months ago, with an unfamiliar narrative, and one I'd very much like to see, and will now have an opportunity to since it's being released on DVD and digitally via iTunes next week.

I guess it pays to be a winner.  Because now that Idris Elba has been awarded the Golden Globe for his performance in BBC's Luther, everybody's on board to help get the next installment of the popular drama back on screens.

Though it dropped 44% from last weekend, black cinema's Lord and Savior George Lucas' film Red Tails held on to the 4th place slot, beating Man on a Ledge; though it couldn't beat off Underworld Awakening, The Grey and One for the Money. And even that film stars the one person that EVERYONE hates - Katerine Heigl.

Another Sundance 2012 pickup... Magnolia Pictures has acquired release rights to Julie Delpy's relationship dramedy 2 Days In New York, which she stars in along with Chris Rock.

Tyler Perry's next Lionsgate production Madea's Witness Protection will begin filming next week in Atlanta. Perry opted for an *interesting* and mostly white cast ensemble for this one, with the exception of Romeo Miller (Jumping The Broom), the son of rapper Master P.

The S&A live podcast show returns from break Sunday at 3:00pm/est and we plan to bring it back with a BANG!  For starters, our format will be less "formal" so be prepared to expect the unexpected.  In addition, we'll integrate more of your comments in our conversations.  We've been reading ALL of them and it's obvious you guys have a lot to say...that's a good thing!  Let's face it, we all love black cinema and should talk about it a lot more.  In fact, we really anticipate more of you joining us this season...the more the merrier!

Here's the first official trailer for the now Academy Award nominated (for documentary feature) film Undefeated - the football documentary directed by Daniel Lindsay and T.J. Matin about a single defining season of the Memphis Manassas Tigers high school football team; a severely underfunded and underprivileged program attempting a winning season after years of losses, whose fortunes reverse thanks to an immensely-devoted coach named Bill Courtney.
