It's officially scheduled to open in Washington, D.C. this Friday the 6th of January, but if you live in that city and would like to see it one day earlier, you should RSVP ASAP to attend a FREE advanced screening of Dee Rees' feature directorial debut Pariah, presented by Howard University's Department of Radio Television and Film (Pariah DP Bradford Young is an alum, by the way).

Roughly 3 months after its world premiere at the Raindance Film Festival last October in London, British action/drama Victim, which stars Ashley Chin, Ashley Madekwe, Jason Maza, Adam Deacon, David Harewood and others, has been acquired for UK distribution and international sales by Kaleidoscope Entertainment, for a spring 2012 release.

Appointed by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II herself, actor David Harewood is one the latest members of British society to earn a position as a Member of The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE), for acting.

Also screening at the Berlin Film Festival next month is director Sheldon Larry's indie musical feature Leave It on the Floor, which tells the story of Brad (Ephraim Sykes), a brooding twenty-something who leaves his dysfunctional single mom, Deondra (Metra Dee), to strike out on his own in a bigger city.

Her last project, The OWLs (Older Wiser Lesbians) now on home video, Cheryl Dunye is already done with her next feature, a romantic comedy titled Mommy Is Coming, which, as I learned this morning, will make its debut at the 2012 Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama section next month (February).

For almost as long as I've been running Shadow And Act, a question I'm asked often, whether via email, or when I meet folks in person (mostly black filmmakers and black actors) is whether I can connect them with any "support groups" for black filmmakers/actors/etc in their respective cities (although, most often, the question comes from folks living in so-called *big cities* like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and others).
