Also amongst the 36 projects selected for Rotterdam’s 29th co-production market CineMart, which was announced earlier today (Kenyan Hawa Essuman's feature project Djin being the other title I profiled this morning), is the second feature by Rwandan filmmaker Kivu Ruhorahoza, whose first film, Grey Matter (aka Matière Grise), made its debut at the 2011 installment of the Tribeca Film Festival here in New York City, and, as I announced in another post last week, was selected for the touring Global Lens 2012 series.

As Sergio posted about a week ago... First Run Features acquired Chad Freidrich's excellent and compelling documentary The Pruitt-Igoe Myth: An Urban History for threatical distribution, VOD and DVD, after a sucessful film festival run.

Written and directed by Avie Luthra, the South African drama Lucky about an orphan 10-year old boy who finds refuge with an old prejudiced Indian woman after his mother dies from AIDS, was profiled on the site back in September when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. It seems to have been well-received by critics; BBC called it, "a simple but profoundly moving portrait of humanity"..."a wonderful, little gem;" while a review by Variety calls it, "an emotionally resonant portrait of contemporary South Africa...delicate and real...extraordinarily touching."

Well, it's about time we heard something about Tina Gordon Chism's We The Peeples, which stars Craig Robinson, David Alan Grier, Kerry Washington, S. Epatha Merkerson, Melvin Van Peebles, Diahann Carroll, and Kali Hawk, and centers on Robinson's character, a young man enduring the weekend from hell when he surprises his girlfriend by showing up to meet her parents.
