Here's the latest in our ongoing Filmmaker Diary Series featuring writer/director Matthew Cherry. His debut feature film The Last Fall, with an ensemble cast that includes Lance Gross, Nicole Beharie, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Keith David and Harry Lennix, is well into its post-production. The teaser trailer premiered on September 9th.

It was just announced that the Chicago International Film Festival will this year honor Anthony Mackie with its annual Artistic Achievement Award at its Black Perspective Tribute. The event will take place on Saturday October 15th at the Chase Auditorium in downtown Chicago .

When I first heard about this, it sounded like a really interesting idea. I'm referring to the news reported in the U.K.Guardian newspaper that Nelson Mandela's three adult granddaughters have made a deal with Amercian TV producer Rick Leed to star in a new reality show for South African television, chonicling their lives; it's set to air in early 2012.
