Announced earlier today... the Sundance Institute's selection of the next 12 feature projects that will begin the journey through the Sundance Labs program (not that all of them will go through the entire program), beginning with its annual January Screenwriters Lab - an immersive, 5-day writers’ workshop at the Sundance Resort in Utah, that takes places just before the 2012 installment of the Sundance Film Festival begins.

Starting today, and each WEEK day for the rest of the year, I'll highlight, or, as I prefer, propose toasts to all the brave, passionate black men, women and institutions in this ruthless, monocratic industry we cover here on S&A, who were, as the late Steve Jobs put it in that famous ad for Apple, the crazy ones.

This is one film that I'm really curious about and hope to see sooner than later. Despite S&A reader reactions to it when I first profiled the film (mostly negative if I recall correctly), I'm intrigued by the subject matter, and the fact that reactions from from those I know who have seen it have been quite polarizing makes it even more enticing. I love it when a film divides passionate audiences.

So this is the time of the year where every film critic and association on the planet makes their list of the top films for 2011.  However, I though it would be nice to ask YOU, the savvy S&A reader, what films made your "Best Of 2011" list?  I'm actually quite curious.

Too frequently, we throw around the term "hardest-working-person" in one field or another.  But if we take a minute to think about it, there are likely few in entertainment today who are working as hard as actor/comedian/radio personality/game-show host/author/father/husband/etc.Steve Harvey.  And next year, Harvey will be EVERYWHERE in his latest role of talk-show host.

Those in the UK are already enjoying season 3 of the quirky, vulgar, smart teen dramedy Misfits, which began airing on channel E4 at the end of October, while those of us in the US are waiting for season 3 to premiere on Hulu for stateside fans of the series (and I know several S&A readers are), which will happen on December 19, with all new episodes every Monday (the first 2 seasons are currently on Hulu, and other VOD channels for those not familiar with the series).
