Here at S&A we’ve covered Infiltrating Hollywood: The Rise And Fall of The Spook Who Sat By The Door a number times, before and after it gained prominence in the film market. For those unaware, this documentary tells the story behind the making of the cult-favorite movie The Spook Who Sat By The Door, with interviews centering around Sam Greenlee, the writer of the original book and screenplay, along with film co-stars Paul Butler, J.A. Preston and the late director Ivan Dixon’s wife Berlie Dixon, among other notables. Now fresh from their award-winning showing at the Martha’s Vineyard African-American Film Festival and a multi-day run at the Chicago-based Black Harvest Film Festival, I present an interview with the directors of this telling documentary, Christine Acham and Cliff Ward.

Miss Bala was well received by critics when it premiered at Cannes earlier this year. The film, starring newcomer Stephanie Sigman in a breakthrough performance, will screen at Telluride Film Festival, Toronto Film Festival and the New York Film Festival this year.
