Thinking further about Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained and Inglorious Basterds... also, with Halloween just around the corner... I’d like to see some famous black literary characters given similar revisionist film narratives, or fantastical mash-ups like Seth Grahame-Smith’s Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, to name one.

Well... she was rumored to be at the top of Quentin Tarantino's list for the part, from the get-go, so I guess this shouldn't be much of a surprise. Though I'm curious who else they looked at.

I have been waiting for this film to come out on DVD like forever and now finally it has. I'm talking about The Arena released in 1974 with The Goddess Pam Grier.

The Justin Chadwick directed, The First Grader, starring Naomie Harris, is a film that has been covered a good deal on this site. At the World Soundtrack Academy Awards this past weekend, music composer Alex Heffes took home the Discovery of The Year award for his work on the film.
