According to HitFix.com, actor/comedian Garrett Morris (Saturday Night Live, Martin, The Jamie Foxx Show) has signed on to co-star in the new CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls, scheduled to air this upcoming fall season.

The 1988 short, a collaboration between David Johnson and Butch Robinson, is called The Session and was the inspiration for the social satire film Drop Squad which was produced by Spike Lee.

It's not common to have public screenings of black films from the 70's, but I think it's important when it does happen, and one is coming up soon in November - at least for those living in the Chicagoland area. Besides, there's a HUGE difference between seeing a film on your TV or computer or iPad or what have you, and seeing it on the big screen.

Since The Help is opening today, and Lords knows we have had more than our fair share of heated discussion about that damn movie, I thought it would be the perfect time to deal with another film which came out 20 years ago in 1991 that was thematically the same, but much different.
