Coming to UK TV screens (Channel 4) in November... a new four-part thriller titled Top Boy, starring Ashley Walters, whose name has come up a bit here on S&A, which usually means we probably should be keeping an eye on him; from the 2009 BBC adaptation of the award winning novel Small Island, in which he starred alongside a host of other shining UK black acting talent, like Naomie Harris and David Oyelowo; to Demons Never Die, the teen horror flick being produced by Idris Elba, girl gang retribution thriller SKET, and Dominic Savage’s dramatic/improvisational BBC serial Love Life, most recently.

LOS ANGELES – September 28, 2011 – The beloved series STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION® will be transferred to high-definition for the first time ever and released on Blu-ray™, it was announced today by Ken Ross, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Home Entertainment. All 178 episodes from seven seasons will be transferred to true high-definition 1080p for release on Blu-ray and eventual runs on television and digital platforms both domestically and internationally.

Antoine Fuqua, who we reported is to direct a feature-length documentary about Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight for Showtime, is in talks to direct Relativity Media's Hunter Killer, which begins production this winter. According to Variety, the film's script, written by John Kolvenbach and Arne Schmidt, is based on the novel Firing Point by George Wallace and Don Keith.

The Spanish film Los Pasos Dobles (The Double Steps), directed by Isaki Lacuesta from a script by Lacuesta and Isa Campo, was the winner of the Best Film Award at the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain this past Saturday. The film is inspired by the biography of French artist and author Francois Augieras (1925-1971) "who painted the walls of a military bunker in the desert and let it sink into the sand."

The 27-year-old -- who's trained with an acting coach in the past -- tells us he's already been in contact with the movie producers... but he has yet to formally audition for the gig. Since EVERYBODY steals from us (such as Monique's Michael K. Williams and Django Unchained scoop from last week, which was reported on film and news blogs practically around the world), why not steal from someone else this time? So with that I came across this amusing recent item on Bossip.com (That's right Bossip. I makes no bones about it. I love it) in which they list, in their opinion, the WORST black TV shows ever.
