Warner Bros Releasing Short-Lived "Shaft" TV Series Collection To DVD

Warner Bros.' Warner Archive Collection will finally release the short-lived 1973-74 television series based on the trio of Shaft films that preceded it. The TV series, which were more like feature-length movies, with 90-minute running times, also starred Richard Roundtree, who played the titular character in the theatrically-released trilogy.

Some interesting developments this weekend with Dolphin Tale leaping ahead to No. 1, and both Moneyball and The Lion King holding strong. The faith-based, inspirational film Courageous did well, and Abduction dropped big, proving there aren't enough squealing 14 year old girl tweeners to make that shirtless funny looking guy from the Twilight movies a star.

Brit actress Ruth Negga, whose resume includes both TV and film credits, from Misfits to Colour Me Kubrick, as Dame Shirley Bassey, in a biopic of the songstress maybe best known for recording the theme songs to a number of early James Bond films like Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Moonraker.
