We've have certainly covered Bill Duke's and D. Channsin Berry's documentary Dark Girls about "color consciousness" in the black community, and especially how it effects black women; and it's gotten its fair share of controversy - both pro and con; which, of course, was the filmmakers' intention.

I'd forgotten all about this flick previously which we covered a few times last year, and I believe the year before. Yup, it's been around, though no one's really seen it, which might tell you something about it. Well, co-star Mickey Rourke certainly wasn't shy with his feelings about it (see the bottom of this post for more on that).

It's titled Dog Jack, a film said to be inspired by Florence Biros's 1999 YA (Young adult) novel of the same name. Written and directed by Edward T. McDougal, and set during the Civil War, the film centers on "an escaped slave boy and his faithful dog who join the Union Army, never expecting to see his master again." But he does... on the battlefield.
