Brian White Comedy "Politics of Love" Receives VOD Premiere Date

In April, we reported that Codeblack Entertainment had acquired domestic distribution rights to Politics of Love, a romantic comedy starring Brian White and Mallika Sherawat as young campaigners on opposite sides of the 2008 Obama-McCain U.S. presidential race.

Big Beach Films announced Tuesday that its film adaptation of Marie Phillips' 2007 novel Gods Behaving Badly will feature a star-studded cast including Tony Award winner Phylicia Rashad, Rosie Perez, and True Blood's Nelsan Ellis.

Directed by Park Chan-Wook, Oldboy is the South Korean thriller that originally took the Grand Prix at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival. Spike Lee is the most recent director in talks to helm the project, as rumors of a US remake have lingered since 2008.

Preview of an intriguing upcoming documentary produced and directed by Naimah Fuller titled Home - The Documentary Movie; the feature film chronicles the migration experience of African Americans, reversing historical trends and relocating back to the south in the 21st century, thanks in part to rising costs of living up north. Further, as Fuller states, "The poignant question the documentary begs: Are blacks relocating into the South as a consequence of an insidious urban renewal policy called "gentrification", or is it the manifestation of a shared ethos, a spiritual calling to African Americans to return to their southern roots?"

Well, it wasn't too long ago that we informed you about gospel legend Mahalia Jackson's biopic in the works. Based on the book Got To Tell It: Mahalia Jackson, Queen of Gospel, the screenplay is being written by Jim Evering and the film will star singer Fantasia Barrino. Sitting in the director's chair is Euzhan Palcy (Sugar Cane Alley, A Dry White Season). Thanks to S&A reader Cordell, here's some updates on the project.
