I thought there had already been a trailer for this, but, a quick check informed that the first one was just a teaser, clocking in at just over a minute long; this is the first FULL trailer for DreamWorks’ Real Steel, the Shawn Levy-directed sci-fi flick, starring Hugh Jackman as “a former boxer who teams up with his long-lost son to train a robot for a championship fight.”

Released in Paris in April, with no word on whether it'll travel (though it screened in Martinique as well), is Mariette Monpierre's Le bonheur d'Elza (which I believe translates to English as Elza's Happiness, although, you French speakers out there can correct me if I'm wrong).

I have to admit that I haven’t watched a single installment of the Final Destination franchise. I’ve certainly had ample opportunity to do so, since there’ve been 4 of them between 2000 and 2009, and there’s a 5th one on the way, scheduled for release on August 12, this summer.

It opened tonight, May 9th. Any of you out there see it in previews, or tonight? I'm referring to Sanaa Lathan starring in Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Lynn Nottage's new play, By The Way, Meet Vera Stark, as a black maid in Hollywood pursuing her dream of making it in the movies, while also grappling with racial stereotypes through several decades of the 20th century.

I received a few emails over the last week from readers asking me for a review of Jumping The Broom; obviously I haven't posted one; actually we (S&A) haven't properly reviewed the film yet, which I suppose some find odd given that it IS essentially THE black film of 2011, right? I guess. We've certainly written about it quite a bit on this site (both the old and new versions of S&A), as the marketing campaign, which I talked about in a previous post, has been something of a blitzkrieg!

I figured, when we initially announced this last December that the film would head straight to DVD. I was wrong! The Big Bang, directed by Tony Krantz, will open in limited release this weekend, starting on Friday, May 13; a DVD and Blu-ray release will follow about 2 weeks later, May 24th. So, if you miss it in theaters, no sweat; you'll only have to wait a couple of weeks before it's on Netflix :)
