I'm expecting a full press release on this sooner than later, but in the meantime, lifted directly from the American Black Film Festival's website, here's the lineup for the festival's 2012 narrative and documentary feature film selections; you'll notice several familiar titles covered previously on S&A, like Better Mus' Come, Elza (photo above), The Last Fall, LUV, Ties That Bind, The Undershepherd, and Soul Food Junkies (which I noted is one of the 2012 titles we're excited about here on S&A).

Mexican starlet, and the reigning queen of telenovelas, Kate del Castillo, has joined the growing cast of producer Will Packer's thriller, No Good Deed, which already stars Idris Elba, Taraji P. Henson, and Henry Simmons, and is currently already in production in Atlanta, GA.

"The Loving Story" (On Landmark Civil Rights Case That Overturned Interracial Marriage Ban) On DVD 5/14

Directed by Nancy Buirski, The Loving Story as the documentary is called, centers on a real-life story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple living in the state of Virginia where interracial coupling was illegal, and their struggles, including the US Supreme Court case named after them - Loving vs Virginia (1967), the landmark civil rights case in which the United States Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, declared Virginia's anti-miscegenation statute, unconstitutional, overturning existing laws and bringing an official end to all race-based restrictions on marriage in the United States.
