Now wait, don't roll your your eyes. You gotta admire Omarosa (real name Omaroseonee) Manigault-Stallworth (WOW! What a mouthful! Why didn't she change her name to Mary Johnson?). Normally her 15 minutes of fame, after she became, by her design, the "B" you love to hate on The Apprentice back in 2004, would have been over a long, long time ago; but not our girl. She's going to extend it for another 15, maybe even 20, minutes, fighting and clawing her way for every second, even if it kills her, or us, or all of us.

South African director Eric Miyeni, a well-known (and sometimes controversial) writer, actor, and radio & television personality, believes so much in his upcoming film Stolen Time, that he spent his life savings to get the film made.

Film Contact is reporting that director George Miller and his Mad Max 4: Fury Road cast will not be filming that series' reboot in Broken Hill, Australia as originally planned, and as originally reported here by Tambay. Instead-- due to that area's heaviest rainfall in 75 years-- supporting star Zoe Kravitz (along with leads Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy) will be in Namibia when cameras start rolling in March or April of next year.

Long-time Spike Lee editor (as well as director and producer in his own right) Sam Pollard's feature documentary for PBS, titled Slavery by Another Name, will make its debut at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, in the documentary competition section.

Nothing special (above)... posted earlier today on the film's Facebook page (HERE). I'm sure a few more will pop up shortly, with a trailer for the film in the next few weeks, given that it's scheduled to open fairly soon, February 2012, in what should be a big year for Tyler Perry, with at least 4 films expected to open in theaters - this one (Good Deeds), his take on Alex Cross, The Marriage Counselor (which he's directing but not starring in), and a Madea movie (though no word on where the gun-carrying grandmother will turn up this time).

In case you've been having sleepless nights wondering whatever happened to the effervescent Jackee Harry, you can rest easy now since we can announce that she's part of the new TV series "She's Still Not Our Sister" which is premiering this Sunday Dec. 10 on the Gospel Music Channel cable network (which I admit is the first time I've ever heard of it).

Another new content feature I've long intended to incorporate into the site are profiles of black film festivals and the people at the top who run them. I think it's crucial that we get to know these men and women behind these yearly events, who invest quite a lot of time, energy, and other resources into putting their individual celebrations of black cinema together. Given how long I've been writing about black cinema on the web, I've noticed that we (as audience members, filmmakers and writers) can be rather quick to criticize black film festivals and those who run them, without really, fully understanding what happens behind the curtain, so to speak. And I say it's time to demystify some of that process, and get inside the heads of the folks who manage these sometimes mammoth annual events.
