In an interview in today's Chicago Tribune in advance of the Artistic Achievement Award he will receive this weekend at the Chicago International Film Festival’s Black Perspectives Tribute, Anthony Mackie states that black film today needs a "catalyst" and that filmmakers such as Spike Lee and Robert Townsend should be insprations to new black filmmakers today.

Rob Brown Joins Cast Of "The Dark Knight Rises"

According to Variety, Rob Brown, last seen on the big screen in the 2008 Ernie Davis football biopic The Express, has signed on to join the cast of The Dark Knight Rises. The highly anticipated Christopher Nolan-directed action thriller, which we have given much coverage on the site, also stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman and Anne Hathaway. The Dark Knight Rises is set to be released July 20, 2012.
