It's been about a year since it made its world premiere at the Venice FIlm Festival in 2011; since then, it's been released almost all over Europe and parts of Asia, and will finally see a USA release this fall, courtesy of Oscilloscope Laboratories, which picked up North American distribution rights to Andrea Arnold's adaptation of Wuthering Heights, with plans to release the film theatrically in New York on October 5, with a national roll-out to follow.

The announcement that she'd been cast in quite a meaty role in Steve McQueen's Twelve Years A Slave naturally led some to wonder about her past work, given that, as I noted in that post, looking over her IMDB page, the Kenyan actress has primarily crew credits on a few projects, but little in the acting department. Although on her Twitter page, she lists herself as an actor first, a graduate of Yale School of Drama.

Looks like this has been confirmed to be Cuba Gooding Jr.'s next project; the titled we previously had (based on what my source told me) was Something Whispered (although I can't say if that's what it will eventually be called).

A film that's on my to-see list, if it ever makes it to NYC - Chocó, set in Colombia, which centers on the struggles of a 27-year-old mother of 2 (the titular Chocó), working a poorly-paid job in a gold mine, living in a tiny wooden hut, who's married to a reckless and abusive man named Everlides, a marimba player who gambles away their life savings.
