What most resonates with me in watching this 15-minute presentation by Wanuri Kahiu (writer/director of Pumzi) are her comments about the imaginative stories her mother would tell her when she was a child, which she (Wanuri) has now come to realize really were science fiction.

Not much needs to said here, really. It's a Steven Spielberg historical epic drama (this time centered on Abraham Lincoln), Daniel Day Lewis stars as the title character, and he's joined by Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, and several other revered acting talents like David Oyelowo and Gloria Reuben.

Earlier this morning, I posted an entry in rememberance of Tupac Shakur's 1996 death (he died on this day, September 13, 1996, at a Las Vegas hospital, at age 25, 6 days after being fatally shot in a driveby shooting that remains unsolved).

I wouldn't necessarily call this Terence Nance's *next* film, or his follow-up to his feature film debut, An Oversimplification Of Her Beauty; but if you've seen that film, and dug it, then I think you'll probably dig this series as well.

George Bowers - film editor of roughly 30 feature films, dating back to the early 1970s, and mentor to long-time Spike Lee editor (as well as director and producer in his own right) Sam Pollard - has died, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who say that he actually died on August 18 of complications related to heart surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
