3 films we've covered quite a lot here on S&A received nominations for this year's British Independent Film Awards: Steve McQueen's Shame (7 nominations, including Best British Independent Film, Best Director (Steve McQueen), Best Actor (Michael Fassbender), Best Supporting Actress (Carey Mulligan), Best Screenplay (Abi Morgan, Steve McQueen) & Best Technical Achievement (Joe Walker – Editing & Sean Bobbitt – Cinematography); Richard Ayoade's Submarine (5 nominations including Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director, Best Screenplay (Richard Ayoade), Best Supporting Actress (Sally Hawkins) & Most Promising Newcomer (Yasmin Paige & Craig Roberts)); and Joe Cornish's Attack The Block (2 including Most Promising Newcomer (John Boyega), and the Douglas Hickox Award for Best Debut Director (Joe Cornish)). The 14th annual British Independent Film Awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, December 4th in London.
