It's worth noting that XLrator Media also acquired rights to, and released Mario Van Peebles' We The Party, as well as 96 Minutes, which Evan Ross (who won a breakthrough performance award at SXSW for his work in the film) and David Oyelowo both co-star in.

A quick recap... Austrian filmmaker Ulrich Seidl’s Paradise franchise of films, which follows 3 individual though interconnected stories of 3 women in love in 3 different locations, and is now being released as three separate feature films, instead of 1 - Paradise: Love, Paradise: Faith and Paradise: Hope, has been picked up for USA distribution by Strand Releasing, with a 2013 release for all three films planned, starting in the first quarter.

Of note this weekend, with respect to new films with people of Africa descent at the center of their narratives, the independently-released documentary, Detropia, which opened on just 1 screen in New York City (at IFC Center), grossed $18,400. Look for announcements of cities it'll expand to for next weekend.
