Here's your first look at a psychological thriller we've been following since last fall - Désordres (Chaos), starring Isaach De Bankolé and French-Rwandan actress Sonia Rolland, as history professor Vincent, and his wife Marie who have just moved from Paris (with their son) into a farm near a small town in the south of France, looking forward to a quieter life. Marie, a retired renowned international pianist unwillingly follows her husband. From the very beginning, Thibaut, one of Vincent’s students (played by Niels Schneider), disrupts their family getaway, and slowly, the couple starts to come apart.

I believe it was 3 years ago that we featured a short film based on this very subject - Dock Ellis & The LSD No-No, which was based on a colorful recording by former baseball pitcher Dock Ellis, describing how he pitched a no-hitter in 1970 while under the influence of LSD. Ellis, for his part, became an anti-drug crusader before he passed a few years ago.

I get p***ed when I see 'seminars' and 'webinars' and whatever else for screenwriting instruction. I get to read the scripts after they've gone through this so-called "instruction". Rarely, if ever, do these things give a writer what she/he needs. Certainly, structure and format is about all they can offer. But, the real stuff, the stuff that makes a compelling screenplay cannot be given in a group setting.
