2011 Venice Film Fest Closing Night Film "Damsels In Distress" Co-Stars 3 Black Actors

The closing night film of this year's Venice Film Festival, which runs from the end of August through September 10th, is a comedy/drama titled Damsels In Distress, directed by Oscar-nominated actor/writer/director Whit Stillman - his first film in 13 years.

King's Faith, currently in production, is directed by Nicholas DiBella and produced by Mark Costello and Marc Wax. The film will star Lynn Whitfield , James McDaniel (NYPD Blue) and Crawford Wilson. The film is set to be released sometime next year.

Just a few months ago, S&A informed you about emerging filmmaker Chinonye Chukwu and her effort to raise funds for her first feature film alaskaLand. Well, we have an update regarding her journey. Principal photography is complete and now she's in the post production phase. You can see the official poster above.

I guess we could call this our "first look" at Wendell Pierce of The Wire fame, in an upcoming indie film titled, Four, an adaptation on an off-Broadway play by Christopher Shinn, directed by Joshua Sanchez, who also wrote the script based on the play.

A trailer for the film is supposed to debut tonight at the Airventure 2011 event in Wisconsin, so expect it'll turn up on the web soon thereafter, and we'll finally get to see our first look at the long-in-development film.
