2011 Venice Film Fest Closing Night Film "Damsels In Distress" Co-Stars 3 Black Actors

The closing night film of this year's Venice Film Festival, which runs from the end of August through September 10th, is a comedy/drama titled Damsels In Distress, directed by Oscar-nominated actor/writer/director Whit Stillman - his first film in 13 years.

King's Faith, currently in production, is directed by Nicholas DiBella and produced by Mark Costello and Marc Wax. The film will star Lynn Whitfield , James McDaniel (NYPD Blue) and Crawford Wilson. The film is set to be released sometime next year.

I guess we could call this our "first look" at Wendell Pierce of The Wire fame, in an upcoming indie film titled, Four, an adaptation on an off-Broadway play by Christopher Shinn, directed by Joshua Sanchez, who also wrote the script based on the play.

If you've seen Captain America: The First Avenger, then some, if not all of this, will already be familiar to you. It starts with the ending of the movie, which is followed by a 15 second tease of the Avengers movie, which is currently shooting, and will be out next summer. And of course, there's old boy Nick Fury (aka Samuel L. Jackson) leading the pack...

Well, whadaya know? Just mere minutes after my post announcing the official release date of the film, and that I'd be keeping an eye out for the trailer, which was set to debut this evening, the trailer drops on Yahoo Movies, and it's embedded below.

As we already know, Samuel L. Jackson and Angela Bassett will soon star as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the mysterious Camae respectively, in the Broadway production of the new play, The Mountaintop, by Katori Hall, directed by Tony Award-nominee Kenny Leon (Fences, A Raisin in the Sun).

A trailer for the film is supposed to debut tonight at the Airventure 2011 event in Wisconsin, so expect it'll turn up on the web soon thereafter, and we'll finally get to see our first look at the long-in-development film. By the way, if any of our readers will be at Airventure tonight for the screening, please let me know.
