Thanks to S&A regular reader CareyCarey for bringing this to my attention. The feature-length documentary Dear Daddy by Janks Morton is currently raising funds through THIS Indiegogo campaign. The film has raised $8,227 of the $6,000 goal with 24 days left.

Nekisa Cooper's critically acclaimed Pariah will be released in theaters this fall and will also screen at the Toronto Film Festival next month. However, Cooper has another project she's currently concentrating on along with cinematographer Bradford Young (Mississippi Damned, Restless City, Pariah, Middle of Nowhere) called Five Nights in Maine.

Although the S&A crew won't "officially" return to our podcast show until September, we decided to do a couple of special shows for you since we miss you that much! Today (Tuesday), at 8pm/est, we'll be joined by the cast of the new film Dreams.Terri Vaughn, Tommy Ford, Syesha Mercado, Dennis "LA" White, Angie Stone and Vickie Winans will be our special guest. In addition, the film's director Joel Kapity and executive producer Marvin Winans Jr.,who stars in the movie also, will be joining us as well.

First off, let me express my surprise at the fact that (what seems to be) a pretty decent Jason Statham (The Transporter, The Bank Job) flick is going straight-to-DVD. I saw the trailer for Blitz last spring, and I was sure that it would be another in his long line of profitable "shoot-em-ups". Based on the Ken Bruen novel of the same name, Blitz looked like it would be the crime-drama of the summer. But alas, today we see the release of Blitz on DVD and Blu-Ray.
