A few weeks ago, New York's New Voices in Black Cinema Festival presented a special screening of Theodore Witcher's 1997 cult classic film love jones, where Witcher and co-star Lisa Nicole Carson attended and gave insights into the making of the film. Beyond the pleasure of seeing the movie back on the big screen 15 years later, what was truly evident was the impact it had on a generation of moviegoers who would continue to crave black romance films afterwards.

Back in November, New York's Museum of the Moving Image hosted an event commemorating a landmark year in cinema - 1991 - when there was an influx of studio-funded films by black directors including Spike Lee, Matty Rich, John Singleton, Mario Van Peebles, and others.

Just last week, Vanessa told you about a new Jimmy Fallon comedy show that spotlights three, thirty-something men and their adventures in parenting.  Anthony Anderson was named as a member of the trio and now, according to Deadline, former Cosby Show co-star Tempestt Bledsoe will play his wife.

HBO has put the brakes on their new drama pilot Da Brick. As of today, the cable network has passed on the project, executive produced by Spike Lee, John Ridley, Doug Ellin and Mike Tyson, says Deadline.
