I think most would embrace a feature-length documentary on the late Dwayne McDuffie and the institution he created Milestone Media/Comics, a coalition of African American artists and writers, and comic book company owned by African Americans, striving to positively address the lack of minorities in American comics, fighting for recognition and acclaim in an industry dominated by whites, both the characters within the comics, as well as the people who create, market and sell them.

Continuing to play catch up on all the TV shows that feature black characters in prominent roles, or significant storylines... I gave this one a shot, going in blindly, really not knowing what the heck to expect. But I figured I'd give it my customary 3-episode viewing to get a good enough feel for it, before deciding whether to continue watching, and so that I can at least talk about it with some authority.

We could say that Marcel Camus' 1959 award-winning Black Orpheus introduced the rest of the world to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil; although it's probably better known for the Antônio Carlos Jobim-composed bossa nova-infused soundtrack.
