Viola you are the reason my heart will forever beat for a Black Queen. Thank you for showing the world that beauty knows no race and reminding black woman that they deserve to be praised! - a black man
It's refreshing to see how beautiful Viola is; I saw her on I think it was the "Today" show and she was naturally beautiful. But the glamour shot is awesome too and takes the stereotypical role away...at least for a moment.
She looks great, but looking great or stunning has never helped black actresses in Hollywood. In my opinion if you're not 'the chosen one', you're not 'the chosen one'. And that's that. No matter how good you look. Actually you're likely to get more roles if you look homely.
WOW!!! She looks wonderful!!! I was distracted by the bad wig during her SAG acceptance speech. She has always been beautiful, but these pictures take her to another level.
WOW! Eye-gasm! She's gorgeous! And her hair.....loves it!!! Her skin is so rich & radiantly beautiful! FLAWLESS! She certainly can model -- she'd be the first 45+ model in the industry!
I heard a white anchor woman on one of those entertainment shows say "she was so brave for taking those picture without her wig" Brave?! Its a shame that is how Hollywood's standards of beauty view being seen in your natural hair.

LOL! That was quite dumb, yes. And what's a shame is that they don't even realize they're being offensive!
Wow sometimes wigs can really hurt you more than help you (no pun intended) I think she looks years younger and gorgeous as always. Her real life story is inspiring as well, I wish her all the continued success she deserves.
I fell in love with Viola the first time I saw her! I have always been a fan of most of the sistas in Hollywood, but I have a special soft spot for the dark skinned sistas. Being dark chocolate myself, I was always shocked when my skin color was an issue, not from the Whites in the South but from the Blacks. Viola is not only beautiful, but intelligent and warm. Viola if you read this I LLLOVE that you used the word "Joog"(sp) on national tv! Now THAT is real!

I first saw Ms. Viola in Antwone Fisher and she was even beautiful in the role she played. I have been following her roles ever since...... Extremely awesome actress! You're sharing your gift with the world even if you don't ever get THAT shot! You're an awesome representative!!!
beautiful woman/beautiful photos. now all we need is more films/plays where she gets to look like this while she does the amazing acting she's known for in every part!! lovely, lovely, lovely!
Viola is one of the most beautiful women in the world!!! She radiates warmth! She is enchanting! She is talented, intelligent, and amazing! I can only imagine these gorgeous photos above... posted on the walls of young girls who will dream and wonder...and hope someday to be...and look...just like her.
@INEZ I did not see this level of beauty in her past performances or even the red carpet. On the red carpet she is pretty. This spread takes things to a whole other level. I'm seeing bold, serene, sexy, classy, adventurous, flirty, glamorous,... and the natural hair is so organic and chic. We rarely get to see black women with their nature assets (natural hair and nose). So yeah..I am pleasantly surprised.
More proof that weaves, & ridiculous wigs have an "uglyfi-ing" effect on sistas.. just let the natural beauty that you were created with shine through...
Anyone who couldn't see Viola's beauty before this is definitely biased. I always knew she was beautiful and that people only looked at her complexion, never fully apprecating how incredibly beautiful she is. As a dark skinned woman, I was told as a young child that "I would be pretty if I wasn't so dark". I never let this stop me and as a adult I have been acclaimed by everyone who meets me as being a beautiful woman. I have appeared in Essence Magazine and in my local newspapers more than once, recognized for not only my beauty but for my sartorial splendor as well.
Viola is giving me Diana Ross in these photos. The 60's look fits her so well, and her hair is so beautiful! As for the wigs, well...let's be honest. She can wear whatever she likes at an award show, but has opted for wigs and style of dress that don't compliment her. So it's not just Hollywood putting her in those God-awful looks, it's her glam squad who should be fired today for letting her down the red carpet. I hope she hires he team that worked this LA Times layout, because finally she actually looks her age.
I didn't recognize her at first. She looks awesome, especially in the picture where she's wearing sunglasses and smiling. We never see enough of her wonderful smile.
I am speechless - she is absolutely beautiful in these pictures. I am just thinking how seeing this picture will have such a postitive effect on a young African American girl in regards to what is considered beautiful. I know it took my breath away and I felt just that much more beautiful after seeing this pic!
Damn! I didn't even know her hair was that short... looks amazing, Im a HUGE natural hair fan! Wish she could rock it in her movies, but Hollywood prob ain't having that shit! smh
Stunning...and she's 47!!! She needs to dump the weave. Her beauty shines with a short natural. They always make her look old and "Plain Jane-ish" in the movies.

OMG. I had the opportunity to meet Viola this year and thought she was absolutely stunning. Without the wig, she outrageously beautiful. Never being one to buy into the manufactured hair (i.e. braids, wigs, weaves, or perms) I can say that I prefer Ms. Davis' natural hair texture. Wow, she is definitively one hot commodity, more so than Halle Berry, Jada Pinkett, and every other light complected black woman that Hollywood perceives as "exotic". The 100 mile difference is Viola is brilliant, self assured, analytical and will not select a role that compromises her (or a black woman's) integrity. She proved that you don't have to accept roles like Monster's Ball to win an Oscar. I love this woman, and it is she who might influence Hollywood to reassess what a black beauty looks like. You're right Dianne Daniels, this beauty is fierce. Perhaps this is Viola's big reveal to fully separate her screen characters (with wigs) from the real deal. Love it.

I always suspected Viola Davis had an undercover hotness thing going on. Now her pulchritude is clearly exposed and apparent in its full and regal splendor in these exhibits. Leading lady loveliness; my suspicions are confirmed. What a comely woman!
