ABC has picked up Motive, a "thrilling" (as it describes it in the press release) crime drama from the executive producer of Dexter, with a unique twist focusing not on who did the crime, but why the crime was committed in the first place.

The 13-episode drama is scheduled to air in Summer 2013 on the the network.

When murder is committed, Angie Flynn, a loving, single mother and a damned good detective, along with her partner, Detective Oscar Vega, are on the case, looking for clues that will lead them to the killer. But "Motive" turns the tried-and-true crime drama formula on its head by indentifying the killer and victim at the beginning of each episode. These storylines are then further explored via stylized flashbacks which piece together more of the mysterious connection between the two characters and what drove the killer to commit murder.

Motive stars Kristin Lehman as Detective Angie Flynn, Louis Ferreira as Detective Oscar Vega, Lauren Holly as Dr. Betty Rogers, Roger Cross as Staff Sergeant Boyd Bloom, Brendan Penny as Detective Brian Lucas and Cameron Bright as Manny Flynn.

Cross has appeared in several past TV series like The X-FilesStargate SG-1Highlander: The SeriesStar Trek: Enterprise and others. He also co-starred most recently, in Lifetime's Abducted: The Carlina White Story, with Keke Palmer and Sherri Shepherd.

Don't forget that Roger Cross played "Curtis" on '24' for a number of seasons.

It was a sad, sad day when Jack killed Curtis. He was his road dawg! At that point, the show really did go down hill. You're right, it was done solely for sensationalism.

Exactly SLB! That's where I know him from. He was cool and absorbed the #2 field agent role after Tony Almaeda left. I will never forgive 24 for killing him off which in my opinion was only done for sensationilsm of a "major death". Ok I'm done. LOL
