Speaking of Scandal...

The key stats being: Posting its best-ever young adult lead-in retention... ABC's winter final of Scandal beat CBS' Elementary for the first time in Adults 18-49 to stand as the #1 series in the 10 o'clock hour for the 2nd week running.

If these week-to-week up-ticks continue through the second half of the season, expect a 3rd season to be ordered by ABC.

All the goodies via press release from ABC:

ABC's "Scandal" Scores Series Highs Across the Board

Gaining week to week in viewers (+4%) and young adults (+5%), ABC marked its strongest Thursday since mid-October with regular programming on the night - since 10/18/12.

· The Net was up over the year-ago Thursday, with an all original line up, by double digits in Total Viewers (+22%) and Adults 18-49 (+29%).

Soaring over its lead-in at 9pm, ABC's Grey's Anatomy dominated its hour among Adults 18-34 and across all key Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54) to rank as the #1 drama of the night on each count.

Posting its best-ever young adult lead-in retention out of an original Grey's, ABC's winter final of Scandal beat CBS' Elementary for the first time in Adults 18-49 to stand as the #1 series in the 10 o'clock hour for the 2nd week running. Additionally, Scandal once again led by double to triple digits over Elementary with Adults 18-34 and across all key Women (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54), winning the hour for its 4th straight telecast with W18-49 and W25-54.

· Building for the 2nd consecutive telecast in viewers (+12%) and young adults (+14%), Scandal scored series highs among Total Viewers, all key Adult (AD18-34/AD18-49/AD25-54) and Women demographics (W18-34/W18-49/W25-54).

Ava, I'm watching here in Holland and I know a few ppl who are watching as well, so yeah, the Scandal reach is far and wide. Show isn't perfect, but it's entertaining and the plot twists keep reeling me back in.

I love scandal the show is amazing it's go far beyond being about a black woman whoring herself out for a white man!!! Just hoping that this season we see more from Harrison.

This show is trash. Politics with an inter-racial affair. Black woman whores for a president, not cool. Cheesy, lazy writing. The crowd I watch the show seems disinterested until a steamy scene appears on the screen. Garbage.

    LOL

    well don't watch it then...
I guess you'd be ok with it if the black woman was whoring herself for a black man... give me a break..

I had already figured out who shot Fitz....the only character on the show with an assassin background. The question is why did the person shoot Fitz?

Calling the character arcs on Revenge deep and rich is like calling what David Blaine does magic.

  • karla | December 9, 2012 2:40 PM

yeah makes you wonder and wonder and wonder... why... Huck why... but I thought that it was the guy he torchered...that did the deed....but its going to be very interesting learning about why he did it..

Also, as a writer, I have to say predictable is not what I'd call SCANDAL. I did nrot see Pope as being the woman on the sex tape, did you? Did you see Billy Chambers as the villain b4 us? What about the roundtable and the Supreme Court Justice and FLOTUS, Hollis, Cyrus and Olivia. The writing on this show is anything but predictable. I would say it was the opposite.

REVENGE character arcs are deep and rich... I watch Revenge and there is nothing deep, or even slightly believable about the characters. I am saying this to you as someone who is a regular REVENGE watcher. Deep is the emotion you get from a Cyrus Beene and his marriage and the idea of their adopting and their working on opposing sides, not the pretend Emily Thorn being 5 seconds from taking a bat and beating a man to death... that's not deep... that's a guilty pleasure and SCANDAL is way more satisfying to my adult brain.

Yea the character arcs aren't as rich and deep as Revenge, which makes things fairly predictable. I think this works well with women. Just enough cheese and intrigue. I guess I watch to see how far Huck gets to go and difficult scenarios for Liv to handle.

I'm a bit behind on my viewing but it looks as if Scandal is finding it's audience and finding its way! I know people as far as Jamaica, W.I. talking about "Who Shot Fitz!" (lol). And if the fact that Deception on NBC is debuting next month is any indication--other networks are noting the possibilities for success with a Black female protagonist. Finally! For this reason alone, while in the beginning I had some technical issues with the show's writing and editing, I have been steadfastly rooting for Scandal's success. May Scandal's success spawn shows that aim ever higher in quality.

Love your comment I too have enjoyed viewing Scandal and Love every Thursday Night's showing. Olivia Pope & Fitz are brilliant together and make the show exciting.
