In the film, Turner's "Proud Mary" becomes a salvation song, the performance a cathartic, explosive release for Turner during years of abuse and rising stardom. Objections from the families of both women aside, I watched about 30 minutes of it, and, I'm sorry folks, I just couldn't continue. There's a Lifetime movie aesthetic that just isn't for me, but clearly it works for some. I don't have the ratings/viewership numbers yet, but Lifetime will likely issue a press release with those details, which we'll share here once we have them.

We can now add Tyrese Gibson, Luke James, singer Jacob Latimore and rapper Nas to the cast of Fox Searchlight's Kasi Lemmons' musical Black Nativity, which is now back on track, as previously reported, after a brief hiatus, due to the fact that an actor to play the lead male role had yet to be secured.

Interesting... Angela Bassett is attached to star and executive produce a new NBC legal drama titled Vanishing Point, created by Ben Ripley, the screenwriter of last year's time-bending thriller Source Code (directed by Duncan Jones).
