Well, it looks like its a definite go now; Pathe International has reportedly come on board to financially back Idris Elba's Nelson Mandela biopic (along with South Africa-based Distant Horizon, which they are desribing as "the largest South African production ever mounted!"

I guess it pays to be a winner.  Because now that Idris Elba has been awarded the Golden Globe for his performance in BBC's Luther, everybody's on board to help get the next installment of the popular drama back on screens.

No . . . I'm really asking-- "Could he?"  Because though I consider myself a huge Idris Elba fan, I'm sorry to say that I have yet to watch the first Thor, so I don't know if Heimdall made it out in one piece.  And characters-of-color don't typically fare well in action/fantasy films when they're not the lead character.

Variety has named Luther creator Neil Cross to its list of 10 Screenwriters To Watch, and was able to get some interesting info out of him regading the future of the popular BBC show.
