From the rumor-mill, courtesy of our friends at Latino Review, who've broken many-a-story in the past. Although, no official confirmation of any of this from the actors themselves, the studio, or the director. In short, Latino Review is reporting exclusively that David Oyelowo and Michael B. Jordan (2 black actors who are having very good years, starring in 2 of 2013's most-talked about films) have both met with director JJ Abrams regarding roles in the upcoming Star Wars franchise reboot, although the website doesn't say what those specific roles might be that Abrams is considering the 2 actors for. You'll recall that it was last fall when Disney bought Lucasfilm for $4.1 billion and has announced its intent to make another trilogy (at least) of Star Wars films, with the first one (to be directed by JJ Abrams) set for release in 2015, and a new one every two to three years thereafter. On top of that, Disney later revealed that, in addition to at least 3 more films, fans should expect stand-alone films, and TV series, separate from the official Star Wars films, that will be based on Star Wars characters.

Wow! Just when you thought the Rocky franchise was dead (the last film was released in 2006), MGM plans to revive it; BUT, this time, the focus will be on the grandson of Apollo Creed - the character played by Carl Weathers in the first 4 Rocky movies.

'Fruitvale Station' Is Not Only A Eulogy To Oscar Grant, It’s A Eulogy To Trayvon Martin As Well

I saw Fruitvale Station in the wake of the ubiquitous media coverage of the Trayvon Martin verdict. I’ve had some pointed opinions on the whole affair, namely how tragic and seemingly unjust the verdict was, then I tell myself that only Zimmerman and the departed Mr. Martin know what happened that night and the jury deliberated purely on the evidence presented to them. I also scratch my head at how the African-American community mobilized in the wake of the initial shooting and the verdict, whereas the death toll of blacks at the hands of other blacks have reached nearly genocidal levels in Chicago, yet not much is said or done. With that in mind, I went into this film determined to keep my intellectualism and my penchant for discernment intact. I’ll come back to this point later.

“He didn’t like to be left alone.” Oscar Grant’s mother Wanda, played superbly by Octavia Spencer, delivers this line in one of the most compelling scenes in the film. It is a detail, that when considered in the context of the story, hits us on all sides, and most importantly, in the heart.
