First, as an aside... Maybe it's just me, but I suddenly realized that this is the 3rd pairing of an older black actor with a younger white actress in upcoming features we've recently profiled. There's the Denzel Washington Equalizer reboot, which just tapped Chloe Moretz as the female lead; and there's also the Will Smith Warner Bros. project titled Focus, which initially had Kristen Stewart attached to co-star in a film about an inexperienced female con artist (Stewart) who teams up with a more seasoned male con artist (Smith). But Stewart is no longer attached at the moment. However, I'm sure another young white actress will replace her eventually.

What a silly exercise Unthinkable is. It's just not very good! In fact, for a film centered on material of such gravity, it's more comical than it likely intended to be. I laughed. A lot. From Samuel L. Jackson's usual obnoxious screaming-man routine, to the film's preposterous setups, horrible, hackneyed dialogue, and ringing endorsement for torture, I'm not certain what exactly drew the film's impressive cast to the material. It's just absurd.

In my interview with Samuel L. Jackson in December, ahead of the release of Django Unchained, he mentioned that one of the projects on his slate was a live-action adaptation of a Japanese anime film called Kite (Yasuomi Umetsu’s 1998 work), which was to be directed by David R. Ellis (who also directed Mr Jackson in Snakes On A Plane).

One of the hardest working men in showbiz, Samuel L. Jackson's indie drama Reasonable Doubt, which he stars in alongside Dominic Cooper and Gloria Reuben, has been picked up by Lionsgate (US rights), and will be sold internationally by Voltage Pictures.

Since Django Unchained opened today, Christmas Day, to impressive numbers ($10 to $13 million according to Deadline, opening on 3,010 screens), and some other outlets are releasing their reviews, I thought we'd remind you all that both Sergio and Tambay saw the film and reviewed it separately about 2 weeks ago, each with different reactions to it.
