When four of the most popular Black comedians of the time came together for a stand-up comedy film directed by Spike Lee, a lot of people watched, and laughed. Continuing an established black stand-up tradition paved by Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Red Foxx, "The Original Kings of Comedy" (2000) saw Bernie Mac, Steve Harvey, DL Hughley and Cedric The Entertainer reprise popular, controversial topics of race, Black family dynamics and religion with distinctly different twists.

Renaissance man (comedian, best-selling author, radio & TV host, actor, and maybe more) Steve Harvey will host his annual Hoodie Awards (celebrating is 10th anniversary, by the way) on August 4th, kicking off a 4-day star-studded extravaganza that will feature live entertainment, headlined by Stevie Wonder, with performances by New Edition, and much more; appearances by Michael Jai White, Tasha Smith, Estelle, John Legend, Anthony Hamilton, and others are expected at the awards ceremony, which will be housed at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino and Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
