Aflre Woodard has been cast to play the President of the United States for the NBC political drama pilot State of Affairs, which is being called "Scandal meets The West Wing" (but of course).

Starring Katherine Heigl, the show is about a CIA officer, Heigl, "who becomes President Roberta Payton's (Woodard) daily briefer, assuming responsibility for targeting America's most critical threats while navigating the unique lifestyle that comes with such a high-powered job."

The twist is that Heigl’s character is also President Payton’s late son’s ex-girlfriend.

Leslie Odom Jr. is also in the cast, playing a character named Mitchell Manning, who's Chief of Staff to the President.

Joe Carnahan, who directed Smoking Aces, The A-Team and The Grey, will direct the pilot and will also be its executive producer if the network orders it into series.

I just love her.... every time I see her face I think about that scene in Star Trek First Contact... when she yelled at Patrick S... Jean Luc blow up the damn ship

Too bad for Alfre this will never make the air or if it does it will be canceled after the first two episodes. Ever since Heigl dissed Shondra Rhimes and "Grey's" becoming a legend in her own mind that she was a "movie" star her career has been in the toilet. ...And now she's trying to get back to where it all started: television.

I tuned out after you said that the show was about a CIA officer played by Katherine Heigl. She's an unwatchable actress.

yeah I can't stand her ( Heigl ) and she can't act her way out of a paper bag... to bad because I just everything Ms. Woodard has ever done...

Yeah I know. That's the killer. She was forced to go back to TV since no one wants to see her in movies

Congratulation on your new gig, Alfre
