Presented by TD in celebration of Black History Month, CFC (Canadian Film Centre) and Clement Virgo are pleased to host a special evening in conversation with iconic actresses Pam Grier and Jennifer Beals.

A lively and inspiring cross generational conversation with Pam Grier (JACKIE BROWN, COFFY, FOXY BROWN) and Jennifer Beals (FLASHDANCE, THE BOOK OF ELI, ”The Chicago Code”) about the changing landscape of film and television, and the roles and opportunities available for black actresses.

The evening will explore their inspirations for entering the film business, the choices they have made as actresses, and the challenges faced along the way. From co-starring together on the acclaimed TV series “The L Word”, to carving out their own unique career paths, Grier and Beals will also draw on their personal experiences to discuss the impact of being a role model both on and off the screen.

Who: Actresses Pam Grier, (JACKIE BROWN, COFFY) and Jennifer Beals (FLASHDANCE, “The Chicago Code”).

What: To commemorate Black History Month, CFC and Clement Virgo will host a special in conversation with actresses Pam Grier and Jennifer Beals. Presented by TD.

When: Thursday, February 2nd, 2012 6:45 p.m. - Photo op/media wall 7 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. – In Conversation with Pam Grier and Jennifer Beals

Where: Cineplex Odeon Varsity and VIP Cinemas 55 Bloor Street West, Toronto. 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20.00 (all proceeds will go towards the CFC Diversity Scholarship) and can be purchased in advance through T.O.

    Just a heads up that Jennifer Beals is no longer attending.
    "An Evening with Pam Grier" will take place Feb. 2 at Cineplex Varsity and VIP Cinema, Toronto

    Judging by many of the comments I routinely read on this site, it seems that many commenters have confused Shadow and Act with that other site . . .

    Well this is interesting because back in the 1980s when Flashdance was big Jennifer Beals DENIED she had black heritage. It was only until black Americans and publications such as Ebony called out Jennifer Beals did she acknowledge her black roots.
